Wildlife Restoration (WR) Grant Examples

This page details specific information regarding Wildlife Restoration grant application examples for state fish and wildlife agencies to construct a firearms target ranges using this federal funding source. Ohio Division of Wildlife has provided five examples for firearms target ranges throughout Ohio. 

Major range renovations, expansions, and new construction that increase the footprint and public use of the range typically require Environmental Assessment for NEPA compliance and as such, but not limited to, a more in depth endangered and threatened species a historic preservation review.  Commonly, sound studies are also conducted as part of NEPA for new range construction and major expansions.

Please note that these projects were not funded with individual grants. They were lumped into three, multi-range grants.

The following documents all pertain to the shooting ranges at Fernwood State Forest, Harrison State Forest, and Spring Valley Wildlife Area (W-134-P-19). These ranges had engineering/design and construction funded with separate grants due to timing and cash flow management.

The following documents all pertain to the shooting ranges at Tranquility Wildlife Area and Indian Creek Wildlife Area (W-134-P-25). These ranges were funded under one grant, but that grant is still open, and not all the invoices have been processed yet. Therefore, the cost values are what Ohio DNR expects to pay in total for each of these two ranges.
